I wanted to say a huge thank you to the kind individual who entrusted this collection to me. Becoming the guardian of these remarkable garments means more to me than I can fully express. This collection isn’t just fabric and thread it’s a living history and I feel deeply privileged to be a part of its story. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for your trust, your generosity, and for allowing me to care for something so precious.

Museums won’t take just any antique garment. They have limited space, staff, and conservation resources. Every item added to a museum’s collection requires proper storage, documentation, and sometimes restoration. All of which take time, money, and expertise.

Museums also follow a strict acquisitions policy, meaning they typically only accept pieces that fit their collection goals. This usually includes garments with historical significance, known provenance (the story of who owned or wore it), or a strong connection to a specific time, place, or person of importance.

While many antique garments are beautiful and valuable in their own right not all of them meet the criteria museums need to justify taking them in. It’s not a matter of worth but a matter of focus and preservation.

Enter stage left the collector, in this case me. I’ve been collecting antiques for over two decades and these will go into my collection.
