Helge Fossmo was born on July 27, 1971, in a small village in central Sweden. He is one of five siblings. His parents were not religious, which is not often the case for people who follow a faith, as they are typically influenced by their families. However, Helge developed an interest in the Church on his own. At the age of 12, he joined the youth group of his local religious community, and his parents supported his decision. They recognized his strong interest in the Church and did not object. In fact, they later came to see it as a positive choice for their son.

Helge describes the church as a source of salvation for him. Despite his young age, he was one of the most active members of the community, regularly attending church meetings and events. This involvement lasted for five years until he began working at a Christian youth café in 1988. There, he met his first love, a girl named Helene. They were both attracted to each other, and their relationship progressed as they grew up. The couple eventually married and had two children. During this time, Helge continued to explore his faith and became a preacher in the local community.

In 1993, a pivotal encounter took place. Helge met Asa Waldau, a woman who claimed to be the bride of Christ. She was the leader of a Christian sect. Asa hails from Knutby, where the cult originated, and travels from town to town preaching and gaining followers. Her main focus is on teenagers and young adults, making Helge’s family an ideal target for recruitment. She consistently uses the same strategy to convince young people to leave their homes and join her church.
