Today i.e on 02.09.2025 Berhampur Police conducted raids at Berhampur Town area near the educational institutions.
Four Police teams from each Town PS, Gosaninugaon PS , Baidyanathapur PS, Bada Bazar PS, were formed. Police conducted raid in shops near educational institutions, schools and colleges and seized cigarette and tobacco products which were being sold by the shopkeepers near the educational institutions
Shopkeepers who sell the Tobacco products to children near the educational institutions and are liable U/s 24 of The Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003.
A total 44 shops were raided today and prosecution reports have been submitted against the shopkeepers.
Bada Bazar PS submitted 11 PRs, Gosaninugaon PS submitted 12 PRs , Baidyanathapur PS submitted 11 PRs, Bada Bazar PS submitted 10 PRs and Berhampur Town PS submitted 11 PRs.
This is a part of " Ops Prahar " as per the direction of DGP Odisha. Raids against drugs will continue for 2 weeks.
