Lest We Forget is a 1947 Army Signal Corps documentary-style propaganda film that gives viewers an impression of the fighting during World War II. This last part covers the events from the Battle of the Bulge until the surrender of Germany in May 1945. It shows American soldiers managing the harsh winter of 1944 and several important turning points including the crossing of the Rur and Rhine rivers as well as the liberation of Jülich, Cologne, Koblenz, and Essen. The film also shows the everyday life of the soldiers, including brief moments of entertainment like a “Rhine Rodeo” that they organized.

Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have endangered films you'd like to have scanned, or wish to donate celluloid to Periscope Film so that we can share them with the world, we'd love to hear from you.
