As with any pressurized device, the gaskets will deteriorate over time. Same with this Petromax Lantern which did not like to be shut off any more. Replacing the responsible gasket meant taking the whole thing apart - and so I went ahead and cleaned it up a little, flushed the tank, replaced the nozzle with a smaller one - and installed a new burner after I had discovered the old one was missing all together.
