Komodo Island: Day Trip to see dragons

The biggest, heaviest lizards on earth, the Komodo Dragons. These endangered reptiles can only be found on Indonesia's Lesser Sunda Islands so we took a trip to Komodo to see them in the wild!

This trip wasn't easy - we originally planned to take a 3 night, 4 day boat trip from Gili Air but after waiting it out for a week, this was cancelled due to weather. We then bit the bullet and flew from Bali to Flores and took the cheapest day trip we could find... we don't recommend doing this! The tour we went with wasn't well organised, we missed some stops and didn't feel it was great value for money (£55 doesn't seem a lot in hindsight but when you've been travelling Indonesia for 2 months it does seem expensive in comparison to other things out there).

This boat trip took us to Padar island (an island with 3 different sands; pink, white and black), Komodo island to see the dragons and then snorkelling on pink beach to see some of the coolest coral we've seen yet. Whilst the trip didn't quite go to plan, our main mission to see komodo dragons in the wild was completed!
