PNU Torch Ceremony 2019 - Ang Nagdaang Araw (Auld Lang Syne)

The traditional turn-over ceremony of the 4th year graduating students to the 3rd year undergraduates of the Philippine Normal University features the singing of the Filipinized version of the Scottish folk song, "Auld Lang Syne".

"Ang Nagdaang Araw" is sung after the junior students don the Sampaguita garlands they wear to the necks of their seniors. In exchange, the seniors hand over the lighted candle they are holding to the junior student in front of them. Afterward, the seniors link their hands and form a chain around the juniors who hold, raise, and wave the candles as the band plays the song.
