The Konidela Born Konidela Sri Kalyan Kumar on September 2, 1971, Pawan Kalyan is an Indian politician and actor who has been Andhra Pradesh's 11th Deputy Chief Minister since June 2024. In addition, as the Andhra Pradesh government's MLA for the Pithapuram constituency, he serves as the Minister of Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Rural Water Supply; Environment, Forest, Science, and Technology. He is the Janasena Party's founder and president.
In Telugu cinema, Kalyan is renowned for his unique acting style and demeanor. In the Telugu states, he has a sizable fan base that is frequently characterized as "unfathomable," "fiercely loyal," and similar to a "cult following." Since 2012, he has appeared on Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list several times, making him one of the highest-paid actors in Indian film. Among other honors, he has received a SIIMA Award and a Filmfare Award.
In the 1996 movie Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi, Kalyan made his acting debut. After that, he enjoyed a run of six straight hits, including the back-to-back blockbusters Kushi (2001), Badri (2000), Thammudu (1999), and Tholi Prema (1998). These movies made Kalyan a young star with a huge fan base that was different from that of his older brother Chiranjeevi. He was appointed as Pepsi's first South Indian brand ambassador in 2001. Despite his subsequent setbacks, Kalyan's popularity continued to rise.
