This seminar entitled "Insight-Out: Political Phenomenology and the Trials of Liberal Democracy" is by Dr. Uriel Abulof, visiting associate professor in Government at Cornell University and associate professor at Tel-Aviv University’s School of Political Science, Government and International Affairs as part of the Cornell Center for Social Sciences Qualitative & Interpretive Research Institute.

Abstract: Amidst the quantitative-qualitative culture war, phenomenology captures a unique place. It extends Thomas Nagel’s quandary, “What is it like to be a bat?” to examine “What is it like to be (a) human” – in politics? What is it like to be a Ukrainian amidst the Russian invasion, an Israeli facing a democratic backsliding, a Tunisian at the onset of the Arab Spring, a teenager on the brink of a cataclysmic climate? People are often eager to tell. We should learn to listen.
