The effects of the Trump administration changes to the public charge rule fell heavily on low-income immigrants who qualify for public programs, with a direct impact on millions of children. While the assistance is much needed, many immigrant households chose to disenroll or forgo applying for benefits in fear of jeopardizing their immigration status. To combat these chilling effects and help ease fears in our communities and minimize the access barriers created by the national anti-immigrant rhetoric, this webinar will combat misinformation and encourage folks to access services that they are legally entitled to.

During this webinar, members of the CA-Protecting Immigrant Families (CA-PIF) Coalition Outreach & Communications Workgroup will share important updates and resources available for immigrant communities in California. The California Primary Care Association and The Children’s Partnership will introduce partners to the Workgroup and opportunities to engage. The National Immigration Law Center will provide an update on federal immigration policy, including the new public charge regulations if available. Additionally, the California Immigrant Policy Center will provide an overview of key state-level policy and campaign updates regarding Health4All, Food4All, and SafetyNet4All. Lastly, partners will share important resources to support immigrant communities: Plascencia Consulting will showcase CA-PIF’s community resources and service provider trainings. The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County will provide guidance on how to utilize the updated Keep Your Benefits Tool.
