Interrupts are signals that temporarily stop a running program to handle something urgent, like a phone ringing or someone knocking on a door.

There are many types of interrupts: vector, non-vector, maskable, non-maskable, edge-triggered, and level-triggered, each with different behaviors.

Interrupts can be hardware-generated (unexpected events like phone rings) or software-generated (predefined internal signals like scheduled breaks).

Software interrupts are planned by the programmer, like taking a break during class at a set time, while hardware interrupts happen anytime unexpectedly.

System interrupts happen internally due to things like health issues or memory problems; these are neither hardware nor software interrupts but exceptions inside the processor.

Some interrupts arise when the processor encounters errors, like undefined instructions or accessing invalid memory, forcing it into an exception or panic mode to handle the issue.
