Shadow Attorney-General Michaelia Cash has called out Prime Minister Anthony Albanese over his actions on gas which Australians have “paid the price” on.

Anthony Albanese has committed to using gas through to 2050 and beyond to reach net zero, but it has caused internal backlash from a number of his Labor colleagues.

“I think what the backbenchers are saying probably properly reflects what Mr Albanese really does think,” Ms Cash told Sky News host Erin Molan.

“They do everything that they can to ensure that there are no new gas projects; so, Mr Albanese, you can say what you like today, but, quite frankly, your actions to date show what your government really does think of gas and your actions to date have meant Australians have paid the price.

“Electricity and gas up under Mr Albanese 18 and 25 per cent respectively.”
