Major Rakesh Sharma, भारतीय सेना की Artillery Regiment के जांबाज़ अधिकारी और Kargil युद्ध के वेटरन, जिन्होंने 1995 से 2005 तक सेवा दी और ऑपरेशन प्रकरण, ऑपरेशन रक्षक व काउंटर-इंसर्जेंसी मिशनों में अपनी बहादुरी से देश का मान बढ़ाया। उन्हें उनकी वीरता और नेतृत्व के लिए शौर्य चक्र से सम्मानित किया गया।

इस कहानी में, वह कश्मीर घाटी में आतंकवाद के चरम समय का एक operation साझा करते हैं, जहाँ पाकिस्तान समर्थित हिज़बुल मुजाहिदीन आतंकवादी एक प्रमुख सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता की हत्या की साज़िश रच रहे थे। दिसंबर की ठंड, आधी रात का घेरा, दिन भर की सर्च, गोलियों की बरसात और फिर एक अप्रत्याशित मोड़ लिया ,जब रात के अंधेरे में एक 14–15 साल का रोता हुआ लड़का, AK-47 नीचे रखकर भारतीय सेना के सामने आत्मसमर्पण कर देता है।

रात को वह उससे पहचान नहीं पते पर जब सुबह वह पाते है की उसकी उम्र महज़ 14 वर्ष है तो भारतीय सेना उसका ध्यान रखती है। चार दिन की हिरासत में उसकी मजबूरी और दर्द की दास्तान ने यह स्पष्ट कर दिया कि “आज़ादी” सिर्फ एक अधिकार नहीं, बल्कि एक अनमोल ज़िम्मेदारी है।

Major Rakesh Sharma, a valiant officer of the Indian Army’s Artillery Regiment and a Kargil War veteran, served from 1995 to 2005 and brought glory to the nation through his bravery in Operation Prakaram, Operation Rakshak, and various counter-insurgency missions. For his valor and leadership, he was honored with the Shaurya Chakra.

In this story, he shares an operation from the peak of terrorism in the Kashmir Valley, where Pakistan-backed Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were plotting the assassination of a prominent social worker. It was the chilling month of December: an overnight cordon, a day-long search, a rain of bullets and then an unexpected twist: in the darkness of night, a crying boy of about 14–15 years placed his AK-47 on the ground and surrendered before the Indian Army.

In the night, they could not identify his age, but in the morning, they discovered he was barely 14. The Indian Army took care of him. During his four days in custody, the tale of his compulsion and suffering made it clear that “freedom” is not just a right, but a priceless responsibility.
