He decides to send Hamlet to England, likely to remove him from the court and prevent further disruption.
Polonius suggests that Gertrude speak with Hamlet afterward, and he will listen in on their conversation to gather more insight.
The scene ends with the court preparing for the play that night, which will be used as part of the larger plan to expose Hamlet's true state of mind.
