This episode we have Bulbul joining us! We explore themes of being present enough to see the beauty in the world around us and how art helps us do that.

I met Bulbul at because she saw me my puppet DJ Stims and just had to say hello. We hit it off right away because both our names mean bird and we love working with many kinds of art.

Deeply motivated by her connection to people and recognizing the beauty in the world she explores many different mediums including henna tattoos, jewellery making, painting and personalized cards.

She recently moved to Nova Scotia about a month ago, but has had a connection to Nova Scotian art long before she came here. Skipping out on morning gatherings at her school, she would go to the library and look at art from all over the world in books. And Maud Lewis really stood out to her. Getting to speak with her and seeing the world through her eyes really helped remind me of the beauty of where we live.

We talk about the importance of taking leaps when in comes to trying new things and sharing your voice. We also go deep into ideas of remembering our roles as artists in an age of AI and the important role art plays in mental health.
