This project documents the complete process of building a modern mini hotel entirely inside the hollow of a giant tree trunk, visually comparable in scale to a redwood or giant conifer. The entire construction—from start to finish—is carried out by a single person, highlighting precision, patience, and careful craftsmanship.

The story begins with the first moment the craftsman enters a massive hollow approximately 5 meters in diameter, still dark, damp, and completely raw. The tree itself features a dramatically flared buttress base (8–12 meters wide), thick moss-covered bark, and an expansive network of surface roots spreading 5–9 meters across the forest floor, rising 20–60 cm above the ground. At this stage, the space resembles a natural cave rather than a living environment.

Through 25 sequential scenes, the project captures a step-by-step transformation:

initial inspection and structural assessment of the hollow

careful cleaning and leveling of the ground while preserving large roots

installation of a floating circular floor system

construction of curved interior walls following the tree’s natural geometry

creation of the iconic round doorway and glass entrance

hidden electrical wiring and warm ambient LED lighting

installation of built-in furniture, a mini kitchen, and a concealed bathroom

integration of modern electronics such as a flat-screen TV

and finally, a solar-powered off-grid energy system

The final result is a warm, minimalist, fully functional modern mini hotel, seamlessly integrated into the massive tree trunk. The circular interior layout, natural material palette, soft lighting, and iconic round glass door create a calm, intimate atmosphere while maintaining a strong visual connection to the surrounding forest.

Every element—scale, proportions, layout, lighting, materials, and mood—is designed to match the provided “AFTER” reference image as precisely as possible. The project demonstrates a unique fusion of modern architecture, human craftsmanship, and monumental natural form, showing how contemporary living space can emerge from the heart of a giant tree without erasing its organic identity.
