Digital Caliper DIY - Make Your OWN Machining DRO, USB, or Keyboard-on-Click Vernier Calipers

Описание к видео Digital Caliper DIY - Make Your OWN Machining DRO, USB, or Keyboard-on-Click Vernier Calipers

Digital calipers with a USB output were more than I wanted to spend. And I've already have a somewhat useless single digit precision set of carbon fiber calipers.

So today we're going to see if this vernier digital caliper exports a second digit of precision through it's digital output even though it only has a single digit on screen.

And I'm creating a 3D printed part to insert into the electronic output port of the digital caliper. That'll be easier than a permanent solder connection to the pins and won't get in the way when the digital caliper is stored on my pegboard.

I've also soldered up a level 1.2v to 5v level shifter to read the output of the calipers in with a standard 5v driven Atmega based board. In this case, a Leonardo clone Pro Micro. You can use a off the shelf part to save some time and money over ordering all of the parts if you don't already have them.

Sorry for the glitches in the video.. the Sony A5000 camera I use was having some issues; I'll clean it up for the next one.
