Make sure to TURN OFF Auto-Updates on your PS5 to prevent loss of your Returnal Save Progress! I'm still to this day after completion, not trusting it after they already warned us about the ongoing problems. We now have a new Returnal patch that will allow us to make changes to the difficulty. What do you think? Is it safe to turn auto-updates back on for the PlayStation 5?? After hearing about the crazy surprise the most recent 1.33 update somehow was causing players to lose their save data completely, I took the precaution of immediately backing up my original save file to the PlayStation Plus Cloud Storage just in case. I only ended up playing for a few minutes to share the latest patch notes and switched games.I was able to maintain my original save data on my console luckily but I still went ahead and backed up my save file again after installing this brand new patch. Going forward, I decided to permanently disable Automatic updates until completion aswell as continuing to send my progress to the cloud storage as I advance through the stages to stay safe.
