This is part 2 of my latest model train layout project. The project is a tribute to the classic Inglenook design and the railroad shunting/switching puzzle.

A few details have been added, and now it's time to test the puzzle. I've made plastic cards for each of the wagons - and the locomotives as well. To begin with It's an option to draw the locomotive to operate.. It's not important for the puzzle itself, but good fun and a chance to operate different locomotives.

Then 5 cards with wagons have to be drawn - and the train must be made from the five selected cars in the order they're drawn.

The layout has three sidings (B-D) and a main line (A). Each siding has room for a specific number of wagons:
A - Mainline = 3+loco
B = 3 wagons
C = 3 wagons
D = 5 wagons

So to make the correct train, it's a matter of strategic thinking and a lot of shunting. There are over 40.000 possible combinations, and for extra time challenge - use a stopwatch and time the fastest shunts..
