Investing in Extraordinary Times

The humanitarian, social and fiscal challenges wrought by Covid-19 have been severe, with economic harm to businesses and investors mounting daily. The ensuing market turmoil has thrown a spotlight on the challenges that public pension funds face in delivering retirement security for their beneficiaries. Through a discussion that will cover a range of topics such as rebalancing, risk management, stress testing, market opportunities and Covid-19 themed assets amongst others, the objective of this session is to explore the fundamentals of investing in periods of market dislocations and provide participants with a robust understanding of the playbook that some of the world’s leading pension funds have adopted in these extraordinary times.

Pension Funds - Investing in Resilience is a three-day virtual conversation series that brings together thought leaders from across the world’s leading pension funds that are spearheading the sustainable investment movement. The series will give participants, and in particular pension funds in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA), the opportunity to learn about best practices, recent developments and trends in sustainable and responsible investment practices, as well as hear about risk mitigation strategies and themes in investments in emerging and developing markets. The series will also explore the benefits and challenges of these approaches, and discuss their potential to lead to long-term economic resilience and enhanced financial returns.

The event is hosted by SDG Impact Jordan along with the Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) of Jordan.
