Human activities like fossil fuel combustion and intensive farming have transformed natural carbon stores into sources, significantly disrupting the Earth's carbon cycle. While agriculture can function as a sink through regenerative practices like crop rotation and composting, conventional methods often release carbon dioxide and degrade soil health. The oceans also play a critical role by absorbing emissions, yet excessive carbon uptake leads to ocean acidification, which threatens marine biodiversity and coral reef structures. To counteract these anthropogenic impacts, the video emphasises the need for mitigation strategies such as reforestation, renewable energy, and carbon capture technology. Ultimately, restoring ecological balance requires shifting away from degenerative systems toward practices that actively sequester carbon.
