Storm Benjamin is set to batter the UK this week with heavy rain and winds over 70 mph, forecasters warn. 

The Met Office has issued multiple yellow weather warnings for areas including southern England, the East Midlands, parts of Wales and Yorkshire, alerting residents to possible flooding, power cuts and structural damage. 

Forecasters say the system could also trigger coastal surges and large waves, especially in exposed regions. One meteorologist noted:

“There is greater than usual uncertainty surrounding the track and intensity of this low-pressure system.” 

🔹 Warnings in place:
• Yellow alert for rain: covering southern England, East Midlands, part of Wales & Yorkshire until 9pm. 
• Yellow alert for wind: from 9 am to 11:59 pm in the east of England and other exposed areas, with gusts possibly reaching 65 mph along coasts. 

Advice for the public: Stay updated via local forecasts, avoid non-essential travel, secure outdoor items, and take extra care if you live near coasts or on exposed terrain.
