There was a battle royal for a chance at the World Title against Rey Mysterio in July 2006. At the end, King Booker eliminated William Regal and Matt Hardy to win the match. Later that night, Booker attacked Rey backstage and Queen Sharmell hit Rey with a low blow. Next week, Booker was celebrating and Rey attacked him from behind. Later that night, Regal from Booker’s Court faced Rey. Booker tried to intervene, but Rey kicked him. Then Rey hit Regal with a six one nine, followed by a splash and pinned him to win the match. Then Rey hit Booker with a six one nine out of nowhere and then jumped on him. Next week, they met in a non title match. Rey went for the six one nine, but Sharmell caught Rey, then Booker hit him with a Book End but Rey managed to save himself. Booker went for the scissors kick, but Chavo Guerrero caught him, then Rey put him into position, hit him with a six one nine and then with a leg drop and pinned him to win the match. They met at Great American Bash. The ref got knocked down. Rey hit Booker with a six one nine, then with a splash, but no ref. Chavo came out, took a chair and then hit Rey with it. Then Booker pinned him to become the new world champion.
