Bengaluru, October 5, 2025, A video showing a rowdy-sheeter celebrating his birthday inside Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru has gone viral, triggering serious concerns over jail security, inmate privileges, and the possible role of prison staff.
The footage, reportedly shared by the rowdy’s aides on WhatsApp and Instagram, shows the inmateidentified as Srinivasa alias “Gubbachhi Seena”, an undertrial in a murder case, cutting a cake amidst cheering fellow prisoners, while others clapped and used mobile phones to record the event. Authorities responded quickly to the public outcry. The Additional Director General of Prisons, B Dayananda, has ordered a “detailed investigation” to determine how such a celebration was allowed inside a high-security facility and how mobile phones entered the premises.
