In this inspiring interview, we present the remarkable journey of Mr. Prabhakar Kaza, one of the most respected Telugu personalities in the UK. From his humble beginnings in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, he rose to become one of the most trusted leaders in international banking.
A former CEO of SBI London, approved by the UK Financial Conduct Authority, Mr. Kaza led the UK operations of India’s largest bank—State Bank of India, a Fortune Global 500 institution with over US$500 billion in assets. With a career spanning more than 40 years, he has held several senior positions, including over a decade as Senior Relationship Director at HSBC London.
Academically, he holds a Master’s in Nuclear Physics, a Master’s in Financial Management, a Diploma in Systems Management, and the prestigious CAIIB qualification—a strong foundation that shaped his global career.
Beyond banking, he co-founded the UK Telugu Association (UKTA) in 2010, becoming its first Director and President. Under his leadership, UKTA evolved into a vibrant cultural platform supporting thousands of Telugu families across the UK.
A major milestone in his career came in 2003 when he led a team that saved SBI $125 million by winning a landmark legal case at the Royal Court of Justice, London—a victory that displayed his strategic brilliance.
From starting as a Probationary Officer in 1974 to representing India’s largest bank on an international stage, his journey is an inspiration to Telugus worldwide. He continues to serve the community through roles such as President of the Indian Forum on British Media.
