Learn the history & sound of Klezmer music, & how it was saved in the 1960's by the same folks who were behind the folk music revival in the US. Practice the elements that make up this amazingly flexible music.... the sometimes asymmetrical rhythmic basis, harmonies, ornamentations, modes & riffs... Open to ALL instruments (vocalists & percussionists included!)
Daniel Hoffman is a violinist, composer, & among the top international players of the klezmer fiddle style. He has written scores for two silent movies & two musicals, & has performed with a dizzying array of musicians from disparate genres. In 2018, PBS premiered his musical extreme sports documentary, Otherwise Its Just Firewood.
