◆楽曲解説（大日本家庭音楽会発行　小田誠作品集No.6「ガジュマル」解説より）
　ガジュマルは、『幸せを呼ぶ樹』などと呼ばれている、ロマンチックな観葉植物です。
　古くから国内外を問わず、精霊が宿る木として扱われることが多い神秘的な樹木でもあり、その謎に包まれた魅力は多くの人を惹きつけてやみません。
　幹の途中から気根という根をだし、その独特な姿かたちは、同じものが一つとしてなく、自分だけのガジュマルとして愛着がわいてきます。
　太陽の光と風を浴びて生き生きと成長する姿、そして幸せを運んできてくれることを思い浮かべて作曲しました。

※調絃の都合により、楽譜に指定の調絃から半音上げて演奏しています。（楽譜には「半音上の調絃でもよい」との記載があり、それに従いました。）

「和楽団『大樹』」は、創価大学箏曲部OBが中心となって結成されたアマチュア和楽器楽団です。日本音楽と箏が大好きな人たちが集まり、楽しくも真剣に演奏に取り組んでいます。
「大樹」という名前は、大地から養分を吸収して成長する大樹のように、多くの曲を研鑽することで、知識、技術そして精神を吸収していきたいという思いが込められています。
日本音楽の美しさが伝わるような堂々とした演奏を目指し、これからも練習に励んでいきます。

◆Commentary (from the score "A Collection of the Compositions By M.Oda No.6 Gajumaru")
Banyan tree is a romantic ornamental plant that is called such as “The tree that brings happiness”.
It is also a mysterious tree that has been treated as a tree where spirits dwell since ancient times both in Japan and abroad, and its mysterious charm continues to attract many people.
It has roots called aerial roots coming out from the middle of the trunk, and its unique shape is not the same as other banyan trees, so we can feel attached to it as our own unique banyan tree.
I composed this piece with the image of it growing lively in the sunlight and wind, and bringing happiness to us.

*Note: Due to the tuning of the strings, the music is played half-tone higher than specified in the score. (The sheet music said that the strings could be tuned a semitone higher, so we followed that.)

Wagakudan "Taijyu" is an amateur Japanese musical instrument group formed mainly by the alumnus of the Koto Club in Soka University. People who love Japanese music and koto are gathering here.
The name "Taijyu"(big old tree) expresses the desire to absorb knowledge, skills and spirit by studying many pieces, like "Taijyu"(big old tree) that grows by absorbing nutrients from the earth.
We will continue to practice, aiming for a dignified performance that conveys the beauty of Japanese music.
