Travel video vlog about our trip to Zurich in Switzerland in winter 2018.

We flew to Zurich with Swiss Air on the morning of 20 January after spending one week in Amsterdam. We reached Zurich at around 10 am and we had 12 hours to explore the city as on the next day we would be taking the OBB train across to Austria.

Located in North-central Switzerland, Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland and also the financial centre of the country.

Upon arrival at the airport, we took a taxi to our hotel, which was centrally located in the main old town. Most of the city's attractions are located in the areas surrounded by the Zurich river in the old town, and they are very close to each other,. As we arrived at the hotel, we dropped off our bags and immediately left to explore the city on foot.

We found that 12 hours was enough to have a taste of the city. Some of the most famous sights we saw when we were in the old town included: Fraumunster Cathedral, St. Peter's Church and Grossmünster.

One place I wish we had visited in Zurich was Lindenhof Platz, a viewing platform that provides panoramic views of the city. On the day we were in Zurich, it was cold and it has been raining, so we didn’t go.

We had lunch in a restaurant in the old town and ordered a traditional swiss fondue, which was delicious but also very expensive (like everything else there - USD100 for a found for two). So if you are visiting Zurich, be prepared to pay high prices, regardless of the season.

One interesting thing was that I barely saw any chocolate shops in town (maybe because it was winter and they were all closed?), but since swiss chocolate is so popular worldwide, I was expecting to see lots of shops across the city, which was not the case.

Zurich is a lovely town and a great travel destination for both winter and summer, and I highly recommend you visiting it if you get a chance. just make sure to plan ahead, as tourism in the city is very popular during peak season.
