Alesund, Norway

Our cruise adventures continue and today we are in beautiful Alesund, Norway. We have booked an all day tour with Viator called, "From Fjords to Trolls". Norway Excursions is the tour group that is providing the tour. This tour group has done the last two excursions we have gone on and I really can't say enough about them. They did such an amazing job on both days and I would highly recommend using them. They were prompt, did all they said they would do and then some and they were very mindful about getting us back to the ship in with plenty of time to spare, before the ship left.
This tour included so many stops and we got to see so many different things around the area.
Two stops were view points to see the fjords in the area. Both stops were so picture perfect! As we traveled along the tour guide provided so much info about the things we were seeing, the culture of the area and the folklore that surrounded it.
Our second stop was in the small village of Stordal, Norway where we were able to visit Rose Church. This church was built in 1789. The entire interior of the church is covered in a style of painting called "Rose Painting". It was beautiful!
The next stop was Gudbrandsjuvet, a 5 meter narrow and 25 meter deep ravine. While at first this doesn't seem that great, once you walk out and over the ravine you will be impressed! There was a gift shop and cafe here as well. As we went to get back on the bus, there were people selling fresh strawberries, cherries and raspberries. These are grown locally and the area has it's own micro climate causing them to be sweeter. They were delicious! Be sure to try the Valldal strawberries if you have a chance!
From here the bus drove through Reinheimen National Park to Trollstigen Plateau. Here you get the most amazing views of The King, The Queen & Bishop Mountains, as well as the Troll Road, Stigfossen waterfall and the immense valley.
The bus takes you down the Troll Road after giving you time to hike around the plateau. The Troll Road has eleven hairpin turns and is quite the drive!
At the bottom, there is time to take pictures and visit the gift shops and cafes.
The final stop is at Trollveggen, or the Troll Wall. And, yes, they are all about the trolls here! Trollveggen is the tallest vertical rock face is all of Europe. Several movies have been filmed here including Harry Potter. Understanding that people climb these cliffs and looking at the different routes is unbelievable.
This was an amazing day. We had a wonderful tour on an absolutely wonderful day. I hope that when you go to Norway the weather is just as nice!
