Delphi, Δελφοί or Δελφούς (2024) is a very important ancient historical site in Central Greece. Delphi with its Omphalos (ὀμφᾰλός) was considered to be 'The Navel of the World'. The Oracle of Delphi was the religious medium that could predict future events. Greek City States honored the Oracle of Delphi with many gifts, donations and temples. The Whole Greek, Hellenistic and Roman World went to Delphi in ancient times to ask for advice on political matters to the Oracle, to pray, to go the the hospital and baths or to visit the ancient games which were also held in Delphi. There were many treasuries, sanctuaries and temples donated and built from all over the Greek World. Delphi is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site of great importance.
