Action from Thurmond, West Virginia! CSX, AMTRAK, KCS, UP, RJ Corman, Jaw Tooth and more!

​‪@JawTooth‬ and I ventured to Thurmond, WV on Wednesday with the hopes of catching lots of coal train action on the RJ Corman Loop Creek Branch and on the ex-C&O, now CSX line that goes through town.
There was a lot of action to be had as we got 3 CSX trains, a hard-working RJ Corman train and the AMTRAK Cardinal in the evening. One of the CSX trains had KCS and UP power, which is very rare for this line!
Count the cars on the first train! I bet there are over 200 empty coal hoppers on this one! My day began at 5:30 AM when I got out of bed to get ready to go pick up Jaw Tooth and head out. My day ended at 2:30 AM on Thursday when I finally got back home 21hours and a 520-mile round trip later.
When we got to Thurmond we met fellow railfans ‪@GandAdventures‬ ‪@whiteoakrail‬ and later in the day ‪@walterlangston4484‬ They are all great guys and you should check out their channels for more action from that area of the country as they live right there!
However, Wednesday`s "Most Valuable Player" was a railfan named Alex that gave Jaw Tooth and I a ride up the mountain so we could catch the RJ Corman train as it was pulling the hill with 3 locomotives and 6 loaded coal cars. He saved us a mile walk up that hill! Then once the train went by, he graciously gave up a ride back down before leaving for the day to go see his family in Ohio. Thank you Alex, you were a life saver!
