In this video we see a variety of freight train operations typical of the late 1950s and early 1960s with diesel traction beginning to make its appearance. On the occasion witnessed here we see a brand new BR/Sulzer Type 2 diesel electric (later Class 24) with a consignment of Tri-ang Pedigree toy pram containers. Meanwhile, a BR Standard 9F built at the same time or just shortly before the diesel is in charge of a lengthy train of ICI chemical wagons originating from the Cheshire chemical factories. A 'Jubilee' demonstrates its utility taking charge of a fully fitted express freight train with a mixture of vans and containers. Similarly, a 'Britannia' Pacific is at the head of a mixed rake of miscellaneous utility vans and parcels coaches.
