Rebuilding the NP231 really isn't all that hard, Replacing the bearings,seals and remembering how it all went together isn't too hard at all. It's always good to have a exploded view of the transfer case for reference and the manual open just in case you run into any issues when putting it back together. Just don't force any parts together and you should be just fine. This is my version on how to rebuild the Np231 i'm sure everybody will find their own way to make this project happen.
