With all due respect to Dr. Robbie and the other good (fictional) health workers at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, PLEASE get some better representations of birth and obgyns! The Pitt, Max’s new medical drama about an emergency department, is being touted as “the most accurate medical drama of all time” and I can maybe believe that in terms of its representation of how busy, overworked, tired, and disrespected many healthcare workers (especially in the ER) are.

But as for birth? Well, let’s just say that their first and biggest mistake was not IMMEDIATELY taking this laboring patient up to the maternity ward. What followed was a double-whammy birth emergency (shoulder dystocia followed by postpartum hemorrhage) so let’s review exactly what went wrong and why (no thanks to the world’s worst fictional obgyn).
