The Central Government has announced the implementation of the ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme at the national level, which was limited to a few states till now. National portability of ration cards is said to cover 67 crore consumers in 23 states in this system by August 2020. These 67 crore people constitute 83 percent of the PDS population. It is targeted to achieve 100 percent national portability before March 2021. Drishti Audio article is prepared for the purposes of civil services examination.
