The primary question is If 11 rounds of exhaustive talks between Centre and farmer leaders, couldn’t resolve differences what gives us hope that further talks will, unless one side agrees to change their fundamental position. Centre’s fundamental position is laws cannot be repealed, particular provisions can be modified and the farmers fundamental position is granting legal sanctity to MSP and scrapping all three laws that they believe will disempower small farmers. So now If Farmers anyway do not agree to anything less than scrapping where is the scope for discussion?

But on the other side one can also argue then in a democracy, consultation and deliberation is the onky way to resolve any differences. Otherwise it would be an autocracy where stakeholders are not consulted. If GOI really believes that farm laws are towards ensuing higher income to farmers, 7 months is a good enough time period to make a case in their favour. Remember the last talks were held on 22nd January and the matter has been left hanging since then. Also the irony of the situation is this: If farmers themselves reject a law purportedly made in their favour, what choice does Centre have other than repeal them? There should be no shame in rolling back laws if its leaving the that very community aggrieved which it is meant to serve! Who is the Government of India trying to convince anyway if not farmers themselves about the merits of the law?
And if really there is no consensus, the farmers must win because they have chosen to reject the so-called largesse extended towards them
