An alternator is an electrical genarator that's convert mechanical energy to Electrical energy.

✓ What is Transformer?
Transformer is electrical static device/ static machine which transform electrical power one circuit to another circuit by mutual induction.

1) Sudden change in load
2) Insulation failure
3) Resonance
4) Switching operation of an unloaded time
5) Arcing grounds

6) Sudden operating of loaded line, particularly under short circuit condition

External Causes:-

Theses are mainly due to atmospheric condition, i. e, due to lighting. The device used for protection of electrical equipment from surge or over voltage are known as over voltage protection devices –
1) Ground wire
2) Earthing screen

3) Surge diverters or lighting arrester
4) Surge absorbers
