At the UConn Center for Advancement in Managing Pain (CAMP), researchers study pain across the lifespan from the molecular chemical level to the whole person and, through collaboration, determine effective treatments.

Dr. Steven G. Kinsey, CAMP Director and Professor in the School of Nursing, and his lab are taking the knowledge gained from studying cannabis use over thousands of years and using it to inform their cutting-edge research on cannabinoids, which are able to decrease our capacity to process pain in the brain while having less abuse potential than that of opioids.
