The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), confirming the appeal filing on November 9, emphasized the confidentiality of the judgment. The MEA has actively engaged with Qatari authorities, securing consular access on November 7. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has also met with the family members of the convicted naval personnel. The ex-Navy officers, detained in Doha since October 2022 and accused of spying on a submarine program, faced a death penalty verdict from the Qatar Court of First Instance.
