He had a voracious appetite, able to feed fifteen people and swallow whole cats, but his stomach never seemed to be full. And today you will discover the story of Tarrare, the insatiable man who devoured everything from human flesh to live eels. During the 1790s, Tarrare became known as a soldier in the French Army with an appetite that defied all human limits. Even after receiving four times the ration of the other soldiers, the Army still had trouble feeding Tarrare. After consuming enough for four men, he searched through piles of garbage for discarded food. Despite his enormous appetite, he weighed just over 100 pounds and exhibited clear signs of malnutrition. Tarrare was scary for several reasons, including the intense odor that surrounded him and drove away anyone who approached.
