As Grant puts it, "Whenever there's a divorce, nobody just rides off into the sunset. Vince had a family—he and Janice, along with their daughter Jenny. I was married to Gary Chapman, and we had three kids." For several years, their paths kept crossing, and to those around them, says Grant, "the energy was palpable." But, she adds, "we tried to be so respectful." Gill recalls, "What was painful was that most people assumed the worst of us, and it was not fair, and it was incorrect."

After both marriages separately unraveled, the connection between them "was finally allowed to find itself," says Gill, and they married in 2000.
