Footage of the aftermath of the shootings of a British Royal Air Force sergeant and two airmen by nationalist gunmen in Aden.

"British servicemen have been ordered to take stricter security precautions following the killings, which brought to 53 the number of British servicemen killed since to nationalist violence began in December, 1963. Servicemen may no longer use motor-cycles or obtain petrol at Aden's service stations, the driver and at least one passenger in a serviceman's private car must be armed, and these must travel in pairs by night and on side roads.

The R.A.F. sergeant died as he filled his car with petrol. Ninety minutes later, the two airmen were killed, within 50 yards (metres) of the road-block set up to search for hidden arms following the sergeant's death. The airmen, both off duty and in civilian clothes, were repairing their motor cycle when an unknown gunman shot them several times. One died immediately and the other died in hospital.

As the search continues today, there are reports of further disturbances in the troubled colony. South Arabian Army troops are reported to have killed nine armed raiders from the neighbouring Yemen Republic, and wounded two more, while three Arabs were killed and two wounded in a clash between rival Arab Nationalist groups."
