Enjoy Sydney S.'s coverage of Disney's 2022 D23 Expo. Disney’s 2022 D23 Expo is the Ultimate Disney Fan Event, bringing together all the worlds of Disney at the largest convention on the west coast for three packed days of presentations, sneak peeks, cosplay, merchandise and magical experiences.

Lucky fans got to see trailers for films and TV shows, including those from Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Pixar and 20th Century Studios. Key premiere dates and trailers unveiled during the Showcase include:

A Live-action reboot of The Little Mermaid is on the way. In the trailer, Halle Bailey gives a stunning performance as Ariel, singing Part of Your World. The film is coming to theaters May 26, 2023.

“National Treasure: Edge of History” – Disney+ original series set to debut December 14, 2022 with two episodes. National Treasure stars Lisette Olivera, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jake Austin Walker, and is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

“Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” debuts February 10, 2023 on Disney Channel and shortly thereafter on Disney. It is an animated series featuring a 13-year-old roller skating super-genius (I can relate to that) who accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City.

In addition to great looking new movies, some old favorites are going to have a sequel, including:

Inside Out 2
Hocus Pocus 2
Avatar: The Way of Water
Disenchanted, which is the sequel to 2007’s Enchanted movie.

Upcoming TV shows we got a sneak peek at are…
The Mandalorian: Season 3
Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.: Season 2
And The Santa Clauses, where Tim Allen’s Santa character wants to retire and have someone else take over as Santa. This Disney+ Original series debuts Nov. 16, 2022 with two episodes.

Speaking of the holidays, three new unscripted holiday specials were announced, including:
Best in Snow
Pentatonix: Around the World for the Holidays
The Hip Hop Nutcracker -- all Coming to Disney+ This Holiday Season

For me, the most exciting new TV series coming up is:
Percy Jackson and the Olympians - Based on the best-selling series by author Rick Riordan, this series appears to finally be getting the Hollywood treatment that it deserves.
