Heineken Sinks on Near $1B China Charge; Israel-Hezbollah Tensions | Bloomberg The Pulse 07/29/24

Heineken took an $949 million impairment for the decline in valuation of its stake in the largest brewer in China, as consumer spending is under pressure in that key market and in the US and Europe. Shares fell as much as 7.4% early Monday in Amsterdam. In geopolitics, Israel attacked Hezbollah targets on Sunday and threatened further retaliation for a rocket strike that killed 12 youngsters and wounded 44 others on Saturday, while signaling openness to a proposed Gaza truce that could also calm the second and more combustible front with Lebanon.
