This trek is definitely one of the best yet highly underrated trek around Bengaluru. This place is about 60 kms away from Bengaluru and is easily accessible even by train or private bus.

For trekking, you have to register yourself with Karnataka EcoTourism website https://myecotrip.com/trailDetail/1/m...

There are two starting points of the trek. First one is to start walking along the railway track from Makalidurga Railway Station (be cautious of the trains) & reach Muthurayaswamy temple and the other is to simply start from Muthurayaswamy temple. We chose the second option as we were already running late & also, we wanted to spend more time exploring the fort ruins on the hill top. I had my friend Kirti with me who has always turned out to be a good trekking companion! 😊
The more you hike up, the more beautiful the background gets. This trek offers a bird eye view of the beautiful Gundamagere lake which resembles the shape of the South American continent.
Few Tips:
1) Wear trekking shoes. The trail is a bit tricky and can cause strain/spasm if wearing some other footwear (my friend can tell you better about it!!) and it happens to get more slippery in rains.
2) Have good amount of water with you. You can also carry some snacks or Yoga bars for keeping your energetic. But please refrain yourself from littering the place.
3) Keep raincoats with you if going to trek in a rainy season. But does it rain in Bengaluru in only rainy season??? Yep, just keep it.
4) If travelling solo, you may keep the forest guard’s contact number with you to use it in case of any emergency.
