Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 takes place from May 12th to 18th, and this year’s theme couldn’t be more timely or important: Community.
In today’s world, where millions continue to face mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and social isolation, the power of human connection is more vital than ever. Too many people suffer in silence — but community has the power to change that.
Whether it’s a simple chat over a cup of tea, attending a local support group, or reaching out to someone in need, these small acts of kindness and solidarity are what build mentally healthy communities. Connection reduces loneliness, strengthens resilience, and reminds us that none of us have to face our struggles alone.
In this video, we shine a light on the importance of social connection, the impact of grassroots mental health projects, and the role that local community initiatives play in creating spaces where people feel safe, supported, and valued.
From peer support and counselling to community cafés and outdoor wellbeing groups, we highlight real stories and practical ways to get involved — proving that mental health support doesn’t always come in the form of clinical treatment; sometimes, it starts with a conversation.
At Anxious Minds, we witness the power of community every single day. Our centres across Wallsend, Blyth, North Tyneside, and Northumberland provide more than just services — they offer a place to belong, to be heard, and to start healing.
Together, this Mental Health Awareness Week, let’s take a stand for compassion, inclusion, and understanding.
Let’s build a future where mental health is not only prioritised, but also respected and supported — in every home, every street, and every community.
🧠 Let’s stand together this Mental Health Awareness Week.
