TRADITIONAL Vietnamese Grilled Pork Sandwich (Bánh Mì Thịt Nướng) Recipe

Today we made some traditional Vietnamese food: Bahn Mi!
Since Brenda is Vietnamese and her family has been making these sandwiches all their lives, she decided to show us how it's done.

INGREDIENTS:

Crispy Baguette
Mayonnaise spread (we used Japanese mayo)
Lemongrass pork
Pickled Carrots
Daikon radish
Cucumbers, sliced into long thin strips
Cilantro
Jalapeños

PORK MARINADE:

1.5lb Pork Tenderloin, cut in long thin slices
1 shallot, minced
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1/8 cup lemongrass, finely minced
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon black pepper
2 teaspoons of honey
2 tablespoons fish sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon oil (vegetable or canola)

Pickled Carrot and Daikon Recipe:

In a bowl, combine 1/2 sugar, the vinegar, and 1 cup lukewarm water, and stir to dissolve sugar. Pour over vegetables.
