About Sikshana Series “Dance Antakshari”

At Sikshana Series, Antakshari gets a new perspective. Instead of Singing Songs, we are bringing you a “Dance Antakshari”. A game show exclusively for Indian classical dance.

In the first round, game is played among the students of the same school. Then the last letter of the dance song is passed to the next school like the regular Antakshari. One kid will be selected from each school to play Round-2 and will be decided by viewers voting.

In Episode 4, the previous school ended their last letter with “Ta” . so Episode 4 will be starting with Letter “Ma”

For Episode 4, We have Shreyas Natya Vidhyalaya, New York , USA, Disciples of Guru: Smt. Vidhya Babu to continue the game.

Smt. Vidhya Babu is an exponent of Bharathanatyam. She has been practicing this art with a passion since she was 10 years old and performed on many stages and shows ever since. She has been trained in different styles of Bharathanatyam (Pandanallur, Tanjavur & Vazhuvoor) under different gurus. She had her initial instructions and training in Bharathanatyam under Guru. Late. Smt. Uma Lakshmi Dakshinamoorthy. Later from Guru. Late. Smt. Thiruvidaimaridhur Raja Lakshmi Ammal and Guru. Sri. Pandanalloor Selvam. She furthered her training in Vazhuvoor style under Guru. Smt. Parvathi Mohan, Bharatha Natyalaya, Chennai. She started her dance school called Shreyas Natya Vidhyalaya in Fishkill, NY in 2008 to pass her knowledge and experience on to our younger generation. Her students have been performing throughout tri-state area.

Ms. Tanmaye Hulgundi

Ms. Tanmaye Hulgundi is a sophomore at Binghamton Univeristy majoring in industrial engineering and systems science. She began learning bharathnatyam in 2007 and had her arangetram in 2019. She choreographs other forms of dances and is part of Binghamton Masti, the bollywood fusion dance team. Aside from dance, she began learning the western flute when she was in fourth grade and has taught herself to play many Carnatic songs on her flute after a few years of basic vocal training. She plans to continue expanding her knowledge about bharathanatyam in the future as it has been her passion from a very young age.


Ms. Manavi Jaluka

Ms. Manavi Jaluka is a junior at Vassar College majoring in Earth Science and minoring in French. She has been learning bharathanatyam since high school (2015) and has continued to learn and practice in college. She is interested about environmental conservation and hopes to work in environmental research after school. She is also passionate about spreading knowledge about South Asian culture at college through bharathanatyam and other cultural events on campus. Dancing and performing has taught her to have more confidence, focus, and order in her life both on and off the stage.


Ms. Ruju Dani

Ms. Ruju Dani is a junior at Cornell University studying Applied Economics and Management and she specifically wants to pursue marketing. Ruju is fascinated by the power of storytelling, and believes that sharing stories help us feel more human. She has grown up exchanging stories with her parents, friends, and podcasting. She hopes that through marketing, she can help people share much needed stories with the world. This fascination is also why she loves bharatanatyam, a dance form that enables her to bring stories to life. Ruju has been learning bharathanatyam for almost 10 years under Smt. Vidhya Babu and completed her arangetram performance in 2018.
