Endoscopy Technician student Victor Martinez, under the guidance of program director Tim Shallcross, demonstrates how to perform a Cold Snare Polypectomy (CSP) through a flexible endoscope's working channel.

A cold snare polypectomy, a form of endoscopic resection, is recommended for removing diminutive polyps less than 5 mm or noncancerous polyps up to 10 mm in size during a colonoscopy. This procedure, utilizing a wire loop, aids in reducing the incidence and mortality rate of colorectal cancer by effectively capturing and cutting these small polyps without the need for a hot snare. The extracted tissue is subsequently analyzed to assess the risk of malignancy, contributing to colorectal cancer prevention.
