You Better You Bet Bass Cover

Описание к видео You Better You Bet Bass Cover

This song is off The Who's 1981 "Face Dances" albums.

I've never been a really big fan of "The Who" but certainly do respect John Entwistle's role as an icon in the bass world. I would put him in the category with the "looser" greats, along with John Paul Jones, Jack Bruce, Jack Cassidy and even, to some extent, Geezer Butler. I use the term "looser" because their bass lines seemed more improvised and "feel" based. And live, were often played a bit (sometimes quite a bit) differently than on the studio recordings.

I was never a gifted improvisor and always aligned myself more with those bass players who I refer to as the "tighter" greats - Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, John Glascock, Dave Hope...whose bass lines seemed more precise and in some ways mechanical or mathematical and were often played live, very closely to the album versions as they were more of a structural part of the songs.
